The concept of WHPH grew from the Harpswell Lobster Boat Races in Harpswell, Maine. Maine Lobster men are some of the hardest working people around. Most work through the harsh winters as well as spring and fall. Then in the summer they get together for a few weekends and blow off some steam by racing these work boats. They work hard all year but the play even harder racing their boats and having a large floating party. We all work hard at our jobs so we can play harder later.

WHPH will mean different things to different people.
For some it is going to be Working Hard at your job so you can Play Harder by blowing off steam at whatever revs your engine. It could be boating, surfing, golfing, fishing or riding your Harley.
For others it is Working Hard in practice, off season, or the gym so that when the game is on the line; you can Play Harder!
